Chapter VII This chapter is all made possible by everyone's favorite Sapharin. ;) Saph stepped out of her office hearing distant noise. She'd heard rumors of a Lounge party, but no one had said anything to her about attending. She was a bit disappointed that no one had 'invited' her, directly, but then, the Lounge was open to everyone. She also felt that most folks at the FA figured she was better off behind her desk. Saph was a social person for the most part, but felt a little out of place sometimes--especially since she'd taken on the mantle of Knight. She just wasn't 'party animal' material. The halls were empty as she made her way down to the Lounge. It was the Holiday Season around the FA. "That figures, most, if not all, are at the party." she said as she made her way....then she stopped dead in her tracks....not only had she forgotten to bring 'something' to the party, but she was hit with a wave of boiling anger. Her shields immediately went up. "Whoa!" she said, softly outloud. "THAT was powerful!" She automatically started radiating the emotion of love, outward in the direction of the source of the anger. It met with a formidable 'wall'. She knew who the wall belonged to. Sadly shaking her head, Saph continued on to the kitchen in order to scrounge something up for the party.... Looking in the FA Lightside fridge, she found odds and ends and when she was done 'doctoring', she'd created a huge bowl of pasta salad. She grabbed a couple bottles of 'zesty' Italian dressing and trucked herself to the Lounge. She tried just sneaking in, but with a huge bowl of pasta salad in her arms, it was impossible not to call attention to herself. "Here...let me take all that, " Catherine said, running up to Saph, and unloading her arms. "Thanks, " Saph said, 'It was getting a bit heavy, and I was afraid of dropping it." "That would have been a real disaster, " Catherine replied, as she and Saph walked, "It looks good." She sniffed. "Smells good too. Where you want all this?" They came to the food table; a small area was left. "This looks like the only space available," Saph said, setting down the bottles of dressing next to the pasta bowl Catherine had already set down. "Thank you for your help, " Saph said, graciously, "I'm not the most coordinated person around here." "Yeah, well neither are some others once the alcohol gets flowing, " Catherine replied. She noticed Kirwan was signaling her to re-join her. "I'll catch you later, " she said, and bowed. Saph returned the bow, sighed and went to find a seat somewhere. Somewhere was a seat on the floor. She cleaned out a small area to sit...confetti, sparkles, balloons went skittering across the floor. Then she remembered she wanted to get herself something to drink. She wandered around looking for the non-alcoholic stuff. Seeing none, she went over to the bar. "Hi Adi, ", she said, "What can you give me that won't knock me on my Jedi robes?" Adi chuckled, and winked. "If I wanted to be mean, " he said, with a grin, "I could give you something, and you wouldn't know what hit you until later...." Saph looked at him with her puppy-dog brown eyes. "Oh ok....that's how your gonna play it, eh?" he said, smiling broadly. "Ummmm....would it help if I complimented your hair?" Saph grinned at him. She loved the new color. "Uhhh...no, not really....it's already been done...." Saph's face fell. "Geez....what's a girl gotta do to get a drink around here?" she asked. "As uptight as you are, I could think of a number of things," Adi said, with an evil grin on his face. Saph blinked. Uptight? Her? Man.... She shook her head. What people must think of me.... she thought to herself. "Now, now...I'll have none of that..." a voice in her head said. She recognized it as Master Aaron Seeker safely tucked under the pool table. "This is a party! Liven up a bit!" "Fine advice from someone hiding out underneath a pool table," she telepathed back. She looked over to the pool table and bent down grinning at Master Aaron. She straightened up, and looked at Adi..... "Never mind," she said, "I'll just stick with water," and wandered away. Adi looked a bit hurt....he'd only been trying to give her a hard time, good naturedly. Saph left the party quietly. She wiped away a few tears off her face. Maybe she was better off behind her desk. But her booted feet didn't head back to her office. Instead, she found herself heading for her Jedi apartment. She was being urged to do something she did not do very often; in fact, it was a source of embarrassment for her if anyone saw her do it, but if people wanted to see her liven up a bit, then she would do so. She opened an antique trunk and carefully took out packages of tissue paper. Unwrapping them, she carefully upfolded the gauzy costume and carefully put it on. She made sure the costume was fitted properly, and then added the accessories she would need to do what she intended to. She padded on bare feet to outside the Lounge setting down her music source quietly. She inserted a music disk. Using the Force, she dimmed the lights in the Lounge, save for a single spot-light which focused on her alone. She hit the music.....and began to dance....her veil swayed, and her coin necklace and belt jingled as she moved to the slow sensual music. She danced as if she were alone....in her own little world.....with the grace of the Living Force...with the music as her partner.... She finished with a bow as the music died. Recovering
herself, she turned the lights back on, and wrapped herself in her Jedi
robe...
